Oct. 1, 2015 Steven Duranceau, associate professor, Department of Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering, received the 2015 Best Paper Award (as a co-Author with graduate student Ben Yoakum), Florida Section American Water Works Association’s Fall 2015 Conference.

Aug. 24, 2015 — Pamela McCauley, professor, Department of Industrial Engineering & Management Systems, has been awarded a Jefferson Science Fellowship with the U.S. State Department for the 2015-2016 term. The Jefferson Science Fellowship program serves as an innovative model for engaging the American academic science and engineering communities in U.S. foreign policy.

June 13, 2015 — Debra R. Reinhart, professor,Department of Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering, has been named a 2015 Fellow by the Association of Environmental Engineering and Science Professors. Reinhart is also assistant vice president for Research, Office of Research and Commercialization at UCF.

May 24, 2015 — Kalpathy Sundaram, professor, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has been awarded the 2015 Dielectric Science and Technology Division Thomas D. Callinan Award, emblematic of excellence in dielectrics and insulation investigations. Sundaram is also a graduate coordinator in the department.

May 23, 2015Haitham Al-Deek, professor, Department of Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering, was the Keynote Speaker at the 7th Traffic Safety Conference organized by the Jordan Traffic Institute, title of Professor Al-Deek’s speech was “Innovative Research Methodology and Countermeasures for Combating Wrong-Way Driving,”

April 1, 2015 Kevin Mackie, associate professor, Department of Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering, has been named chair of the American Concrete Institute’s Earthquake-Resistant Concrete Bridges for a three-year term. Mackie is also associate chair of the department.

March 1, 2015 Mohammed Abdel-Aty, professor, Department of Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering, received the University 2014 award for “Faculty Excellence in Mentoring Doctoral Students”, recipient in the disciplinary grouping of “Engineering, Physical Sciences, and Life Sciences”.

Feb. 11, 2015Haitham Al-Deek, professor, Department of Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering, TV Channel 9 (ABC News) Central Florida broadcast on Professor Al-Deek’s research findings on Wrong-Way Driving aired at five different times.

Feb. 6, 2015 Steven Duranceau, associate professor, Department of Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering, received the College Distinguished Researcher Award.

Feb. 1, 2015Ni-Bin Chang, professor, Department of Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering, was a fellow at the the International Society of Optics and Photonics (SPIE).

Jan. 1, 2015Amir Behzadan, assistant professor, Department of Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering, received the Teaching Incentive Program Award from the University of Central Florida.

Jan. 1, 2015 Woo Hyoung Lee, assistant professor, Department of Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering, was awarded the ONR Summer Faculty Fellowship, Office of Naval Research (ONR) Summer Faculty Research Program.

Jan. 1, 2015 — Necati Catbas, associate professor, Department of Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering, received the Plaque of Appreciation at the Keynote Presentation at International Conference on Civil and Environmental Engineering, (ICOCEE – Cappadocia 2015).

Jan. 1, 2015 Naveen Eluru, professor, Department of Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering, received the TRB Committee ANB20 2015 Young Researcher Paper Award for the paper “A Copula Based Joint Model of Injury Severity and Vehicle Damage in Two-Vehicle Crashes”

Jan. 1, 2015 Mohammed Abdel-Aty, professor, Department of Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering, received the two best papers selected by the Transportation Research Board’s Safety Performance Committee (out of 65 papers).
