Getting Started
Students majoring in the College of Engineering and Computer Science can pursue study abroad exchange agreements and international internships offered through established partnerships. These opportunities are limited, competitive, and require students with strong academic skills among other attributes. Interested students should review the information on this page and follow the appropriate steps to ensure they are able to be considered.

- Third, make an appointment with the CECS International Engineering Advisor

Minimum Requirements for International Programming
- UCF GPA: 3.00 cumulative or higher, certain programs require higher GPAs.
- Must be an engineering major with completed prerequisite courses.
- Must be in good standing (academic, conduct and financial) with UCF.
- Must be a junior or senior at the time of participation.
- Students senior design ready will not be approved for study abroad exchanges.
Timeline to Prepare for Going Abroad
Students considering an international experience should connect with the International Engineering advisor as soon as possible. Participating in full semester study abroad exchange agreements or pursuing prestigious international awards require significant planning, dedication, and exploration to ensure student success and integration to your overall graduation plan.
When is the best time to go?
The ideal time to study abroad is the second semester in your junior year before starting the Senior Design sequence or other Capstone courses. Going abroad in other years is possible, but may limit the variety of coursework available to you. Studying abroad in your final semester before graduation is highly discouraged.

How Do I Apply
Students in the International Engineering Program should work in conjunction with the program’s advisors and the UCF Abroad Office to understand and complete the timeline of important tasks in order to prepare for their study abroad experience.
- Meeting with CECS International Engineering Advisor, Nicholas Schenk. Make an appointment
- Select courses from abroad institution from the study abroad course database
- Discuss study abroad and finances with family members
- Take language / major coursework at UCF to fulfill prerequisites prior to studying abroad.
- Apply to the UCF Study Abroad
- As directed, apply to university abroad and comply with policies, procedures, and deadlines.
- Obtain passport and the required
- Declare optional minor online through the MyUCF Student Center
