Biography
Haiyan Hu is a professor of computer science at the University of Central Florida, where she leads the Data Integration and Knowledge Discovery Lab. Her research focuses on computational biology, bioinformatics and machine learning, with applications in gene regulation, microRNA and long non-coding RNA analysis, and the study of diseases such as cancer, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. Hu has developed computational methods for analyzing genomic and epigenetic data, contributing to advancements in understanding complex biological systems. Her work integrates big data mining, statistical pattern recognition and deep learning techniques to address challenges in biomedical research.
