Biography

Annie S. Wu is a professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Central Florida. She earned a doctorate in computer science and engineering from the University of Michigan in 1995.


Wu directs UCF’s Evolutionary Computation Laboratory and holds joint appointments with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Institute for Simulation and Training. Her research focuses on genetic algorithms, evolutionary computation, complex adaptive systems, multi-agent systems and machine learning.


From 1996 to 1999, she was a National Research Council postdoctoral research associate at the Naval Research Laboratory. She has served on editorial boards for Evolutionary Computation and Memetic Computing and held leadership roles with ACM SIGEVO and the International Society for Genetic and Evolutionary Computation.


She received UCF’s Teaching Incentive Program Award in 2019 and the college’s Excellence in Graduate Teaching Award in 2017.
