Backyard Tour: Kennedy Space Center

Summer is almost here! As our student fellows from the UCF-MSTAR fellowship prepared for their summer internship at NASA, many of them had the amazing opportunity to tour facilities at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC). The fellow students visited the Vehicle Assembly Building, also known as the VAB and the largest single-story building in the world. As the group left the VAB, they got a glimpse at the historic launching pad 39A. The students also had the opportunity to visit multiple labs around KSC, such as the food production project, the ISS Processing Facility, and Swamp Works. At the food lab the students were able to learn more about the advancements that scientists have made to be able to grow plants in space. At the ISS Processing Facility and the Swamp Works, the students expanded their knowledge about the different research and experiments performed at NASA to continue evolving science and technology. During this astonishing adventure, the students took a break at the cafeteria located at the KSC headquarters. This was a remarkable and motivational experience for the students prior to their departure to different NASA centers around the country.
