Gordon Promoted to American Society of Mechanical Engineers Fellow

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers has promoted Professor Ali P. Gordon to the grade of ASME Fellow. ASME considers this honor to be a membership grade of distinction that is bestowed upon those who are responsible for significant achievements in the field of engineering.

Gordon joined UCF in 2006 as an assistant professor. He currently is a professor within the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and he serves as an associate dean for the College of Engineering and Computer Science.

He also manages the Mechanics of Materials Research Group, whose principal research activities focus on the development of continuum-level models to predict behavior of materials subjected to complex operating environments. This research has been funded by the National Science Foundation, the Office of Naval Research, the Air Force Research Lab and various industrial partners.

Gordon has led or co-authored over 100 articles, and is a recipient of the Orr Award and the Widera Award for best papers published in journals of the American Society of Mechanical Engineering.
