UCF IT has previously attempted to compile information about software usage in the past. This project re-attempts this effort by making conscientious changes to the process; using survey-style data collection tactics, the project will outline the foundation for a practical database to store and manage application information, usage patterns, and licensing details, while fostering a sustainable process for future data collection. Upon implementation, faculty and staff will find accessible means for routing colleagues to useful applications through informative descriptions, thorough tagging, and comprehensive data about overall usage and licensing. This project aims to be the established system that UCF IT will rely on for software servicing and support. Faculty concerns have included not having any established system; there have been no successful attempts at implementing a database for software usage across UCF departments and offices. This has proven frustrating as auditing and surveying has become strenuous. This will be a paramount to other, smaller systems as the project aims to flesh out an entire database, alongside data collection, and provide a sure-fire method for long-term maintenance.
