RE-RASSOR is a project created by the Florida Space Institute, based on the RASSOR lunar rover from NASA. The goal of the project is to teach children about robotics and computer science to inspire the next generation of engineers. Elementary and middle students assemble the rovers using 3D-printed parts and control them wirelessly with an intuitive app we developed. We modernized the original platform by replacing its discontinued processor and redesigning the software to be fully wireless and modular. This crucial change allows FSI to continue to distribute to schools for an affordable cost. After a school has assembled a system, it will serve both education and research. It could be used for educational or outreach STEM events to research in lunar construction and automation at Labs and the Kennedy Space Center.
