High-performance computing workloads, such as AI training, data simulation, and gaming, are strictly limited by thermal throttling. For PC users using capable mid-range All-In-One (AIO) liquid coolers, reaching the hardware's thermal limit currently forces a costly and wasteful full-system replacement. Our project addresses this market gap by delivering the External Performance Unit (EPU)—an affordable, modular add-on that retrofits existing liquid coolers with a ""push-pull"" fan configuration. The EPU utilizes a custom 3D-printed housing to externally mount additional high-static-pressure fans. Controlled by a custom-programmed microcontroller featuring a dedicated, safe power connection, the system dynamically adjusts fan speeds based on user input without risking damage to the motherboard. By significantly increasing the system's static pressure capability, the EPU drives higher volumetric airflow through dense radiator fins. This aerodynamic enhancement aims to elevate a standard cooler's thermal dissipation capacity to higher grade levels while simultaneously minimizing overall acoustic output. Ultimately, the EPU allows users to get maximum performance out of the hardware they already own. By offering a simple and affordable upgrade (≈ $65), this project saves users money, extends the life of their PC components, and helps reduce electronic waste.Team
