The Drone Delivery senior design project focuses on the development of a high-performance hexacopter drone delivery system designed to improve the speed, efficiency, and reliability of last-mile logistics. The drone is engineered to transport small payloads, such as fast-food items, to a designated delivery zone using remotely piloted flight operations. The six-rotor configuration provides superior lift capability, enhanced flight stability, and increased redundancy, allowing the platform to operate safely in dynamic outdoor environments while maintaining precise control during hover and payload deployment. The system integrates multiple aerospace subsystems including a lightweight carbon-fiber airframe, brushless electric propulsion, GPS-enabled flight control hardware, power distribution and energy storage components, and a custom servo-actuated payload release mechanism. Emphasis is placed on solving real-world engineering challenges such as structural design optimization, system integration, flight performance tuning, and delivery accuracy. Through simulation, iterative prototyping, and hands-on flight testing, the team is creating a scalable drone delivery solution with practical applications in commercial logistics and emergency response scenarios. This project demonstrates how innovative unmanned aerial systems can transform modern transportation and support the growing demand for rapid, technology-driven delivery services.
