Overview

The International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) and the University of Central Florida (UCF) are hosting a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Fireside Chat and Roundtable Discussion. This year’s theme, Increasing Diversity Participation in STEM Disciplines, will take place virtually on November 17th from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. (EST), facilitated by Dr. Andrea I. Guzman, Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at UCF.

The discussion will start with a panel, moderated by Dr. Guzman, which will share its unique insights and personal journeys related to our theme. At the conclusion of the panel discussion, participants will move into breakout sessions with designated topics, moderated by lead discussants, to discuss these topics and provide feedback. Upon completion of the breakout sessions, participants will return to the main room to share their insights/feedback with the entire participant group.

Examples of expected outcomes of this event are:

  • Develop a list of effective strategies to increasing diversity in STEM disciplines
  • Expand our network of individuals and organizations committed to increasing diversity in STEM
  • Identify immediate action steps we can take to support diversity in STEM disciplines
