November 22, 2018 — Ni-Bin Chang, professor, has been appointed as an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer in 2018 by the IEEE Systems Council.
November 14, 2018 — Seetha Raghavan, associate professor, was featured in Chevron’s “Thank Your Role Model” commercial. She is one of several women in STEM featured for Chevron’s Thank Your Role Model campaign, which celebrates the role models who have inspired women to seek careers in science, technology, engineering or math.

June 18, 2018 — Vladimir Boginski, associate professor, was selected by the U.S. National Academy of Engineering (NAE) to participate in the 2018 Japan-America Frontiers of Engineering (JAFOE) symposium organized in cooperation with the Engineering Academy of Japan.
June 5, 2018 — Sudipta Seal, Pegasus Professor, was one of just four Americans and 20 scientists worldwide to be inducted to the World Academy of Ceramics.
May 23, 2018 — Necati Catbas, professor, was awarded Aftab Mufti medal from the International Society for Structural Health Monitoring of Intelligent Infrastructure (ISHMII) and Journal of Civil Structural Health Monitoring (SHM). The medal was awarded for Dr. Catbas and his team’s work “Performance-based structural health monitoring through an innovative hybrid data interpretation framework.”
April 27, 2018 — Thomas Wahl, assistant professor, was awarded the Outstanding Early Career Scientist Award by the Natural Hazards Division of the European Geoscience Union.
March 30, 2018 — Necati Catbas, professor, was honored with UCF’s inaugural Luminary Award, presented to those who are academic leaders in their field and are making contributions to the world that are making a significant impact.

March 9, 2018 — Thomas Wahl, assistant professor, was selected for the New (Early Career) Investigator Program Award in Earth Science from NASA.
January 8, 2018 — Subith Vasu, associate professor, was formally inducted into the AIAA Class of 2018 Associate Fellows. The grade of Associate Fellow recognizes individuals “who have accomplished or been in charge of important engineering or scientific work, or who have done original work of outstanding merit, or who have otherwise made outstanding contributions to the arts, sciences, or technology of aeronautics or astronautics.”
