Nov. 30, 2016 Pamela Wisniewski, assistant professor, Department of Computer Science, received $10,360 in new funding from the Florida High Tech Corridor Industry Matching Program for a project titled: “Bogen Usability Testing: A Proof-of-Concept for Building an Industry User Experience (UX) Lab @ UCF”.

Nov. 28, 2016Ni-Bin Chang, professor, Department of Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering, has been awarded the Blaise Pascal Medal in Earth and Environmental Sciences in the European Academy of Sciences for his outstanding contributions to Environmental Sustainability, Green Engineering, and Systems Analysis.

Oct. 17, 2016 Yier Jin, assistant professor, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, received a DoE Early Career Award for his project, entitled “Resilient and Robust High-Performance Computing Platforms for Scientific Computing Integrity,” aims at developing a secure high-performance computing (HPC) platform that ensures the application results are correct in the presence of errors/faults/attacks and sensitive data will not be leaked. This research, if successful, will offer solid solutions to improve the levels of performance, reliability, and security of HPC.

Oct. 1, 2016 Kevin Mackie, associate professor, Department of Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering, has been named Chair of the American Society of Civil Engineering Technical Activities Division Task Committee on Dynamic Effects.
