Aug. 1, 2014 Woo Hyoung Lee, assistant professor, Department of Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering, received  the InnoCentive Challenge Award, New Insights into Fluoride Delivery from Toothpaste (#9933557), Aug., 2014 (one of 3 awardees among 287 submissions)

March 24, 2014Lindwood Jones, professor, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, received the MICRORAD 2013 Best Poster Award – Third Place: “Application of the AQ Rain Accumulation Product for Investigation of Rain Effects of AQ Sea Surface Salinity Measurements,” at the Proc. IEEE 13th Specialist Meeting MICRORAD in Pasadena, CA.

March 4, 2014Nicos Makris, professor, Department of Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering, was awarded a Distinguished Visiting Fellowship from the Royal Academy of Engineering in the United Kingdom, under the competitive Newton Research Collaboration Program. The Newton program is a component of the Newton Fund, which aims to develop science and innovation partnerships to promote the economic development and social welfare of developing countries.

March 12, 2014 — Haitham Al-Deek, professor, Department of Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering, was the keynote speaker at the 4th Jordan International Conference and Exhibition for Roads & Traffic “High Priority Issues in the Future Transport Sector,” in Amman, Jordan.

March 1, 2014 — Pamela McCauley, professor, Industrial Engineering & Management Systems, was awarded the 2013 Women of M2M: Top Women in Technology Award presented by Connected World Magazine in recognition of her contributions in technology in Chicago, IL.

Feb. 20, 2014 — Ni-Bin Chang, professor, Department of Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering, received the Distinguished Visiting Fellowship Award from Royal Academy of Engineering in the United Kingdom.

Jan. 1, 2014  — Quanfang Chen, professor, Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, was Elected Fellow of American Society of Mechanical Engineering.

Jan. 1, 2014 — Haitham Al-Deek, professor, Department of Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering, was awarded the Best Regional Transportation Systems Management and Operations (RTSMO) paper Award for 2013, Transportation Research Board RTSMO Committee.

Jan. 1, 2014 — Necati Catbas, associate professor, Department of Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering, was Elected Fellow, Structural Engineering Institute.

Jan. 1, 2014 Charles Hughes, professor, Department of Computer Science, TeachLivE was selected by New Schools Venture Funds for 2013 Learning to Teach Impact Award.
