Mathematical Modeling and Adaptive Control of Biologically Inspired Mechanical Systems with Uncertainties (Seminar)April 1st, 2009
3:30 pm - 5:00 pm
Location: HEC Room 104
Description: Dr. Carsten Behn, TU Ilmenau, Germany, will be talking on:
This talk focuses on the adaptive control of bio-inspired mechanical locomotion and sensor systems. The applications considered here include:
· A worm-like locomotion system (WLLS):
WLLSs are apedal forms of locomotion and show their advantages in inspection techniques or in applications to medical technology for diagnostic systems and minimally invasive surgery.
· A sensor due to a vibrissa (also called tactile hair or sensillum): Vibrissae can be used in robotics to localize objects, detect surface texture or measure flow rates.
All systems are described by mathematical models that fall into the category of non-linearly perturbed, multi-input, multi-output control systems.
