Only 16 researchers in the nation received prestigious 2013 Young Investigator Awards from the Office of Naval Research, and Jennifer Pazour, from the UCF College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS), was one of them.
At the 2013 CECS Scholarships Reception on April 2, donors met the scholars they helped, and the students had the opportunity to thank the donors in person.
“For donors, meeting the actual student recipient enhances the experience and satisfaction of making a donation. And the students benefit from meeting the donors, people who care and are making a difference in their lives. It’s truly an enriching experience for both,” said Michael Georgiopoulos, CECS interim dean.
This year, $183,500 was raised to benefit 114 CECS student recipients.
“When the students graduate and enter the professional world, our hope is that they’ll remember the people who helped them and be inspired to stay connected to CECS and give back in some way,” Dr. Georgiopoulos said.
