Celebrating the Class of 2020 in the College of Engineering and Computer Science

By: Kimberly J. Lewis | May 2, 2020

Today’s Spring 2020 Commencement Ceremony honoring the graduates of the University of Central Florida’s College of Engineering and Computer Science will be live-streamed at 4:30 p.m., as part of UCF’s unprecedented virtual commencement ceremonies.

The Spring 2020 commencement ceremonies mark the 50th anniversary of the first commencement held at UCF, when NASA astronaut John Young addressed the Class of 1970. This year’s commencement speakers are former UCF football stars and current Seattle Seahawks players Shaquill ’16 and Shaquem Griffin ’16. Each of the university’s 13 colleges will recognize graduates by hosting individual ceremonies on the university’s main Facebook and YouTube pages, where the names of every graduate from each college will be read aloud. All of the sessions will be archived on YouTube afterward.

With more than 1,350 candidates of baccalaureate, master’s and doctoral degrees, Spring 2020 represents the largest graduating class of engineering and computer science graduates, and marks an extraordinary semester that finished in a virtual education paradigm.

The college will confer 136 doctoral degrees, 423 master’s degrees and approximately 800 bachelor’s degrees in its Spring 2020 graduating class.

See the UCF Spring 2020 Commencement Program here. CECS’s doctoral candidates appear on page 2; master’s candidates on pages 16-17; and baccalaureate candidates on 52-57.

Wishes of congratulations have been recorded by the college’s deans and department chairs. See below to view their videos. See a recorded message from Dean Michael Georgiopoulos, Ph.D.

This graduating class expands the number of UCF engineering and computer science alumni to approximately 40,000, according to Olivia Eriksen, associate director of alumni engagement in the UCF College of Engineering and Computer Science. See Eriksen’s recorded message to the Spring Class of 2020 graduates.
